October 17, 2009 : Sheet music (solo piano) for Michael Giacchino's Star Trek score will be released by Hal Leonard Corporation on October 21st, 2009.
July 24, 2009 : Star Trek will be available on DVD and Blu-ray on November 17, 2009. The 2-Disc DVD and Blu-ray versions include a feature on Michael Giacchino's score.
May 23 2009: The crew of space shuttle Atlantis (STS-125) were woken up last Wednesday by Alexander Courage's Star Trek theme complete with William Shatner's opening monologue.
April 22 2009: ScoringSessions.com has a full article with pictures of the scoring sessions for Star Trek. April 22 2009: Film Score Monthly is featuring a Star Trek music podcast. "An overview of the history of Star Trek music, from Courage to Giacchino. Special guest stars include Star Trek experts Jeff Bond, Lukas D. Kendall and more!" April 11, 2009: It's not quite a full review of the actual album, but Ain't It Cool News has a report on the Star Trek music from someone who attended the recent surprise showing of the film in Austin, Texas. April 3, 2009: I just ran across the following short video clip that shows Brian Tyler conducting the score to the Enterprise episode "Regeneration." March 24, 2009: Brian Tyler, composer of two scores from Enterprise, talks about the use of his Children of Dune music in the Star Trek trailers in a recent ScoreNotes interview. The music for the recently released third Star Trek trailer is called "Freedom Fighters" and was created by Two Steps from Hell, a small two-man company that specializes in scoring movie trailers. Another Two Steps from Hell composition called "Down With Enterprise" is used in the second Star Trek trailer (along with parts of "War Begins" from Brian Tyler's Children of Dune soundtrack). |
